LGCS Teacher Training

School Days

School starts on Wednesday, September 8th. Kindergarteners have an abbreviated day, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. First graders have a full day, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. School is closed on Thursday, September 9th and Friday, September 10th. All students return on Monday, September 13th for a full day, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Family Orientation Night

LGCS invites admitted students and their families for an evening visit before school opens. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 7-8 pm. We hope to host all our students and parents for a fun, informative evening in our new space - we are simply awaiting permit approval to do so. Save the date on your calendars and please join us! School Clothes and Dress Code

The Lefferts Gardens Charter School dress code requires that shirts be green and pants, shorts and skirts be brown or khaki in color. Sneakers, tennis shoes or similar athletic shoes are required for field trips. Student t-shirts with the school logo will be available for approximately $6 at the Family Orientation Night on September 1st. The local clothing stores and outlets have been informed of our school dress code and should be able to guide you in your purchases accordingly.

School Supply and Clothing List

  1. A full change of clothes, including socks, shirt, underwear and pants in a labeled and closed bag. 
  2. Remember that our dress code is green shirts and brown or khaki pants, shorts or skirts. Tennis shoes are required for all our field trip days.
  3. School supplies are divided into two groups: those for school and those for home.

There’s a new school in town in Brooklyn's Lefferts Gardens area, one that will offer a unique curriculum focusing on experiential learning, Science, and principles of sustainability. By partnering with the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Prospect Park Zoo and Audubon Center at Prospect Park, as well as other organizations, the school will extend the four-walled classrooms to learning opportunities in the out-of-doors and surrounding cultural centers.
